Frequently Asked Questions

A framed shower door is constructed of thinner and weaker 1/8″ to 3/16″ glass. It relies on metal to strengthen the enclosure.

A frameless shower enclosure is made up of 3/8″ to 1/2″ tempered and polished safety glass. This glass has greater strength and does not require heavy metal framing around it. Frameless shower doors also eliminate the wobble seen in cheaper store bought doors when opening or closing.

A frameless shower enclosure is aesthetically superior to any other shower solution, increasing the value of your home. A frameless shower door lasts much longer than a framed shower door, and eliminates ugly thick metal framing. Frameless shower doors are the easiest of any shower door to clean. By eliminating the bulky shower door framing, only glass and minimal perimeter support remain, which can be easily cleaned to “like new” condition using a rubber squeegee.

Stock doors can be installed as quickly as 1 week from receiving an order, while custom enclosures generally take 3-5 weeks. In some cases, lead time can be increase due to custom finishes or the complexity of the enclosure.

Most shower doors take only an hour or two to install. Larger full size frameless shower enclosures and/or steam enclosures usually take no more than than a day to install.

Clear glass does not get dirty any faster than obscure glass. A quick wipe with a rubber squeegee after each use will keep your shower glass looking like new for years to come. For those who want to maintain the cleanest glass possible, we recommend EnduroShield® for patterned glass or for clear and low-iron we use ShowerGuard® , a patented process that seals the glass with an ion beam process. Unlike spray-on or wipe-on treatments that eventually wear off, the protection provided by EnduroShield glass is part of the glass itself, so it never needs to be re-applied. With just a minimal amount of cleaning, EnduroShield glass will stay beautiful for years to come. Ask your salesperson to explain more about this remarkable product.

26″ is our standard size for most enclosures. Wider openings may require a wider door or a combination of a door and side panel. Each situation is unique so talk to an Oasis Shower Doors sales person and they will provide you with the best solution to accommodate your specific needs.

To keep your glass free of potentially damaging water spots, we recommend using a squeegee after each use. Using a squeegee on a daily basis is the simplest and fastest way to avoid water spot and mineral deposit build up on your new shower enclosure.

Using a surface protector, such as Rain-X or C.R. Lawrence TPC, to protect your glass is highly recommended. A surface protector can help to repel water off the glass, but is not intended to replace the use of a squeegee. For a permanent protection solution consider EnduroShield, a patented process that seals the glass with an ion beam process, making it easy to clean. Ask your salesperson to explain more about this remarkable product.

A NON-Ammonia glass cleaner is the only glass cleaner that is safe to use on hardware because, over time, ammonia can damage your hardware.

The look and feel of pure glass is always our goal at Oasis Shower Doors. There are many ways to minimize the amounts of metal visible depending on the specific application. We will work with you to design an enclosure that satisfies your aesthetics while keeping safety, integrity, longevity and of course elegance in mind.

A typical frameless glass enclosure height can range from 72 – 78 inches but can be as high as 96 inches. Heights over 96 inches require special engineering considerations that may require thicker glass to support the increased weight of the glass itself. Stock heights typically cost less than custom height enclosures. Your salesperson will review and make recommendations when necessary.

It is not recommended that a home do-it-yourselfer attempt to install a frameless shower door if you do not have prior experience. Frameless glass shower installation is a fine art with extremely small tolerances being critical to obtaining a leak proof glass shower enclosure without gummy caulks or ugly gaskets. To get it perfect, installation needs to be exact. Also the slightest chip in the safety glass can cause it to shatter leaving you with a very expensive mess to clean up. Our installers pride themselves on being the best in the business.

We do offer opportunities to purchase stock sliders, framed enclosures, and semi-frameless enclosures for customers who’d like to install their own enclosure. You provide the dimensions and we provide the door. Caution: We do not have a support system in place to walk you through installations. You are relying on your own craftsmanship to complete the installation.

Clear glass contains a significant amount of iron, which gives it the appearance of a light green tint. Ultra-clear, low-iron glass is super heated to eliminate the iron from the glass, which gives the glass a crystal clear quality. This type of glass is recommended for anyone who wishes to highlight the natural tile colors of their enclosure.

Our team will review your application and make recommendations accordingly. In some cases, 1/2″ glass will be required to accommodate larger heights and widths. In other applications, 3/8″ glass will work perfectly. While 1/2″ glass is only required for certain applications, it can be incorporated into almost all frameless applications for those customers that want the substantial feel that a heavy door provides.
