Brookline sits directly against Boston, and its housing is unlike most of what we serve: grand single-family houses in Fisher Hill and Chestnut Hill, brownstones and rowhouses toward the Boston line, and a very large stock of classic 1920s and 1930s condominium buildings through Coolidge Corner, Washington Square, and Brookline Village.
The condominium and brownstone baths are the defining Brookline projects, and they are exactly the situation where stock enclosures fail. Those bathrooms are compact and frequently irregular — a tub tucked into an alcove framed a century ago, a window casing intruding on the shower wall, a radiator occupying the one spot a door would want to swing into, and walls that have moved enough over ninety years that nothing is plumb. Ceilings slope in top-floor units.
Custom-measured glass solves layouts that a catalog cannot. Every Oasis enclosure is measured in your home to 1/16" after the tile is complete and cut to the geometry that exists — including the taper when a wall leans, notches around a casing or a radiator line, and angled top cuts under a sloped ceiling. In a room where the whole floor plan is five by seven feet, a quarter-inch discrepancy is not a detail.
The enclosure type matters as much as the fit. In tight Brookline bathrooms a swinging door often has nowhere to go, and the right answer is frequently a single fixed panel with an open entry — no hinges, no bottom sweep, nothing to clear the vanity or the toilet, and the least visual interruption possible in a small room.
Condominium work carries practical constraints worth raising early: building access, elevator scheduling, and association rules can all affect how measurement and installation are scheduled. Getting those on the table at the start avoids delays later.
The Fisher Hill and Chestnut Hill single-family houses go the opposite direction, with fuller renovations supporting wide walk-ins, fixed returns, and benches. Those spans move the glass from 3/8" to 1/2", and low-iron ultra-clear glass is a frequent specification against white marble or pale stone. Hardware runs toward polished nickel and unlacquered brass in the period houses, matte black and brushed brass in gut renovations.
