Marion is Buzzards Bay's yachting village, built around Sippican Harbor with substantial estate properties along Water Street, Front Street, and out toward Converse Point, plus older village housing near the town center. Renovations here are done to a high standard, and the coastal setting shapes nearly every specification.
Two things drive the work. The first is that this is a premium coastal market where low-iron ultra-clear glass is close to a default rather than an upgrade. Standard tempered glass carries a faint green cast that shows at the exposed edges, and against the white marble, honed limestone, and pale stone that Marion renovations typically use, it reads clearly. Low-iron removes it, and in a room designed around light and water views the difference is worth the modest premium.
The second is salt air. Marine-grade and corrosion-resistant hardware finishes matter here more than in almost any town we serve — properties on the harbor and out toward the point sit in genuinely exposed conditions. Which hardware line makes sense depends on that exposure, not only on the finish you prefer, and it is worth working through during the measurement visit rather than discovering the answer several years later.
The estate properties support substantial enclosures: wide walk-ins with fixed return panels, doors, benches, and sometimes curbless entries or steam-ready configurations. At those spans 1/2" glass is frequently the correct specification rather than an upgrade — a long fixed run in 3/8" can flex perceptibly, while 1/2" stays flat and gives a large door a solid, damped swing. Multi-panel layouts raise questions about corner joints, stabilizing headers, and door clearance that we resolve during the in-home measurement, cutting to the opening as built and measured to 1/16".
The older village housing brings compact bathrooms in aged framing — openings that lean, ceilings that slope — where glass cut to the actual geometry is the only thing that sits correctly.
