Lynnfield sits directly adjacent to Peabody, which makes it about as convenient a town as we serve — our showroom at 47 Newbury St is roughly 4 miles away, a 5-minute drive. That proximity changes how projects tend to run here: homeowners typically visit more than once, first to get oriented on glass and hardware and again with a tile sample or fixture once the design firms up.
The town's housing is largely postwar through 1980s construction across the neighborhoods off Salem Street, Summer Street, and Main Street, with a stock of older houses near Lynnfield Center and a wave of high-end construction and gut renovation that has accelerated since MarketStreet opened. Those two ends produce different projects.
In the established postwar housing, the standard project converts a tub-shower alcove into a walk-in. Alcove width is fixed by framing and is never exactly 60", so the panel has to be cut to the measured dimension — we measure the finished opening in your home to 1/16" after the tile is set. Where the alcove is deep enough and the head sprays away from the opening, a single fixed panel with an open entry works well and is the simplest enclosure to keep clean.
The newer luxury construction and full gut renovations go considerably larger: wide walk-ins with fixed return panels, benches, curbless entries, and multi-panel layouts. Those spans push the glass to 1/2" from 3/8" for rigidity and door feel. Lynnfield's new construction also frequently pairs a frameless shower enclosure with glass stair railings in the same house, and ordering them together keeps the hardware finishes consistent and simplifies scheduling — worth raising early if railings are in your plans.
Low-iron ultra-clear glass is a common specification in the higher-end work, particularly against white marble and pale stone where standard tempered glass carries a visible green cast at the exposed edges. Hardware runs toward matte black and brushed brass in new construction, brushed nickel as a steady default, and polished nickel or oil-rubbed bronze in the older houses.
Because the showroom is so close, the most useful thing you can do is bring physical samples — your tile, and the actual fixture finish if you are matching one. Nominal finishes vary noticeably between manufacturers, and five minutes side by side settles what photographs cannot.
