Dighton is a farm town on the west bank of the Taunton River, with a growing stock of newer single-family construction filling in along Route 138, Somerset Avenue, and Elm Street alongside older houses near Dighton village and North Dighton. Renovations here are practical and family-driven.
The newer subdivisions are entering their first bath-replacement cycles, and the project is a familiar one: the builder-grade shower door goes. Units specified in 1990s and 2000s construction were chosen on cost — aluminum framing on all four sides, a bottom track that traps water and mineral deposits, and glass thin enough to flex when the door swings. They function, and they date a bathroom faster than the tile or the vanity does. The bottom track is the part homeowners eventually stop trying to clean.
Semi-frameless is the value upgrade and a sensible default here: it keeps a slim perimeter frame at lower cost than fully frameless while eliminating both the heavy four-sided aluminum and the bottom track. Fully frameless is the step beyond, removing the perimeter entirely so the tile carries the room.
Either way, precision is what makes the swap work. Without a full frame there is nothing to absorb a discrepancy between the glass and the opening, and alcove and stall widths are fixed by framing at dimensions that are essentially never round numbers. We measure the finished opening in your home to 1/16" after the tile is complete and fabricate to that exact number.
Where a tub is removed and the alcove is deep enough with the head spraying away from the opening, a single fixed panel with an open entry is often the best result — no hinges, no sweep, nothing to clear the vanity, and by a clear margin the easiest enclosure to keep clean.
Dighton's older houses near the village bring the out-of-square condition: walls that lean over the height of an opening, ceilings that slope under old rooflines. Glass cut to the actual geometry sits tight where nominal glass shows a wedge.
Glass is most often 3/8" at alcove scale, stepping to 1/2" for wider fixed runs and larger doors. Hardware runs toward brushed nickel and matte black. Much of Dighton is on private wells, and a protective coating slows mineral spotting meaningfully where water is hard.
