Canton sits against the Blue Hills with a substantial corporate base along Route 128 and residential neighborhoods that run from older housing near Canton Center and Ponkapoag out to newer construction off Washington Street and Randolph Street. Household incomes here support steady upscale renovation, and the primary suite is where most of it goes.
The characteristic Canton project is a primary-bath rebuild that ends in a proper walk-in enclosure. Where the room allows it, that means a fixed return panel, a swinging door, frequently a bench, and sometimes a curbless entry. Those layouts are where frameless glass genuinely earns its cost: at that scale, a framed enclosure reads as a metal box inside the room, while frameless glass lets the tile and the space be what you see.
Multi-panel layouts raise questions worth resolving before fabrication. How the panels meet at a corner, whether a long fixed run needs a stabilizing header, where the hinges land relative to the tile layout, and how the door clears a bench or vanity at full swing are all decisions better made during the in-home measurement than improvised on installation day. We measure the finished opening to 1/16" after the tile is complete, because the built dimension and the drawn dimension are rarely identical.
Wider spans change the glass itself. A 3/8" panel is right at alcove scale, but across a long fixed run or on a large door, 1/2" stays flatter and swings with a heavier, better-damped feel. For the enclosures Canton's fuller renovations tend to produce, that step up is frequently the correct specification rather than an upgrade.
Canton's older housing near the center brings the out-of-square condition instead — walls that lean over the height of an opening, ceilings that slope under the eaves — and glass cut to the real geometry sits tight where nominal glass shows a wedge.
Low-iron ultra-clear glass is worth the premium where the tile is white marble or pale stone, since standard tempered glass carries a green cast at the exposed edges. Hardware runs toward matte black and brushed brass in fuller renovations, with brushed nickel a steady default.
